Dumping smelly fish guts into the Mississippi River. A Saints trade for Deshaun Watson?

By Bob Warren

Saints and Deshaun Watson: Lots of Saints talk today. Free agency begins this week and Saints beat reporter Amie Just gets into the nitty gritty here. Meanwhile, the Saints are interested enough in quarterback Deshaun Watson to have made a trade offer to the Texans and it looks like Watson will visit with the team in the next couple days. Stay tuned for more on this story . . .

And one more Saints-related item. You no doubt have heard that Tom Brady un-retired and is coming back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ugh. Of course, social media reacted as it so wonderfully does.

Call your banker: A tract of riverfront land in Algiers Point – once the proposed site of an ambitious $50 million condo project – will hit the auction block soon. The minimum bid: $4.4 million.

Fish guts and a lawsuit: A Plaquemines Parish fish processing plant that has drawn the ire of government officials and environmental groups is being accused by a former employee of dumping fish guts and feces into the Mississippi River and some nearby waterways. The former employee contends she was fired for raising concerns about the dumping and has filed suit under Louisiana’s whistleblower statute.

Wearing the green: St. Patrick’s Day is Thursday. The region was a sea of green over the weekend as thousands of parade-goers hit the streets of the Irish Channel and Metairie. Check out some pictures here. And here.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for more news throughout the day.
