Minneapolis officials announce new public safety plan, details to come. The effort will include law enforcement partners from around the region including the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the state Department of Public Safety and federal agencies, according to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. He said the plan, which will be led by the new city Office of Community Safety, involves building a more comprehensive approach to safety than past efforts.
One woman's mission to turn out the Native vote in Minnesota's midterm elections. Voting begins Friday, Sept. 23 for the midterm elections including more than 200 state races including Governor and Attorney General. Minnesota has consistently had some of the highest voter turnout in the country. But in the last big election in 2020, even Minnesota officials were surprised at the turnout of Native voters in northern Minnesota. The number of people voting in the precincts around the Red Lake Nation increased by as much as 45 percent. Will we see the same kind of turnout in this midterm election?
House GOP unveils its legislative roadmap if they win back the House in November. The "Commitment to America" includes four broad pillars focusing on the economy, safety, individual freedom and government accountability. Big on ideas ("expand U.S. manufacturing") but short on policy specifics, the agenda is in keeping with tradition established in 1994 with Rep. Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America," where the minority party releases their agenda priorities ahead of Election Day. | |
