E-commerce marketplace eBay has fostered an entrepreneurial corporate culture that in turn has spawned a new generation of startups run by women. "The nature of having a marketplace [at eBay] was that it fostered real collaboration between employees," said Kristina Klausen, who left eBay after more than a decade to start language-learning platform PandaTree.

The report also lists deal breakers, with 86% of recruiters citing rudeness to a receptionist or support staff, 71% citing phone use during an interview and 52% citing bad hygiene.

Companies need to improve their approach to employee wellness to increase engagement and happiness, Limeade's Laura Hamill told the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions conference. Wellness programs should be both comprehensive and personalized, and companies should seek to change their corporate culture instead of relying on employee incentives, Hamill said.
About 30 million of the 123 million workers in the US labor force don't have bachelor's degrees but are in "good-paying" jobs, according to a report from researchers at Georgetown University. In California, researchers found most of these jobs are in retail, manufacturing, health services, real estate, construction and financial services.
