Donut enter: Bear wanders where it shouldn’tThe streets may have been empty until recently, but that doesn’t mean every animal in the country got the memo. With fewer humans than usual outdoors, local bear populations have gotten bolder as they venture into cities in search of food and mates. But even when docile, these animals can still pose a threat to people and pets alike. That’s why police in Fort Myers, Florida took extraordinary measures to capture and release a stray black bear that had wandered into town. Being that tranquilizers can irritate or startle a bear before taking effect, they figured using a humane lure and trap would be the best call in this situation. And as for bait, the police decided on something very near and dear to their own hearts: Krispy Kreme donuts. And sure enough, a bakers’ dozen with blueberry pie-scented spray was all they needed to capture the bear. There’s no word on whether or not the cops felt bad about sharing their donuts, however. On a serious note, we can’t fault the cops or the bear here. Krispy Kreme is just that good. Tap or click here to see what makes these donuts so special. → |
