According to Bloomberg, the European Central Bank (ECB) is set to delay the outcome of a large-scale investigation into high-risk loans, a tacit admission that it sees complaints from several banks about the probe as merited. Read more

 

FT: French fiscal doubts strengthen ECB reluctance to repeat rate cut signal

European Central Bank (ECB) policymakers worry that rising government spending in countries such as France could halt the fall in inflation, bolstering their resolve to avoid overpromising more interest rate cuts, the Financial Times (FT) reports. Read more

 

Reuters: European stocks are seeing outsized moves as hedge funds drive trading

European companies are seeing outsized gains and losses in their shares when they report earnings, a Reuters analysis shows, a trend that has more to do with the growing sway of fast money in the $15 trillion market than with business prospects. Read more

ABI: Monthly Report – July 2024

The Italian Banking Association (ABI) has published its Monthly Report (July 2024). Since October 2023, there have been signs of a decrease in market rates, anticipating the ECB decision. In recent weeks, this downward trend has stabilized. Read more (IT)

This European Central Bank (ECB) report presents the main results of the 31st round of the Survey on the Access to Finance of Enterprises (SAFE) in the euro area, which was conducted between 28 May and 20 June 2024. Read more


EBA: EU stacking orders and insight into EU institutions’ management buffers 

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published a Report on the stacking orders of capital, leverage and MREL/TLAC requirements and related capital buffers, as well as on reflections about management buffers practices in the European Union (EU). Read more

 

ESMA: 2023 data on cross-border investment activity of firms

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) together with the National Competent Authorities (NCAs), completed an analysis of the cross-border provision of investment services during 2023. Read more
