FT: Eurozone inflation dips below target to 1.8% in September

Eurozone inflation dropped to 1.8 per cent last month, dipping below the European Central Bank’s (ECB's) target for the first time in three years and bolstering expectations of an interest rate cut at its next meeting, the Financial Times (FT) reports. Read more


Bloomberg: Nagel says ECB bond purchases to be limited to exceptional cases

Bundesbank President Nagel said that future purchases of government bonds by the European Central Bank (ECB) should be reserved for special cases. “The extensive bond purchases contributed to price stability in an era of low inflation, but they were also associated with side effects in financial markets” he said according to Bloomberg. Read more

 

Reuters: ECB's Rehn sees more reasons for an interest rate cut in October

Euroarea inflation slowing down means that there are now more reasons to justify an interest rate cut at the European Central Bank (ECB's) October policy-setting meeting, Finnish ECB policymaker Olli Rehn said in a speech reported by Reuters. Read more

The three European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) have appointed Marc Andries to lead their new joint Directorate in charge of oversight activities for critical third-party providers established by the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). Read more
