FROM THE MEDIA Bloomberg: Fed and ECB urged to embrace interest-rate pause US and euro-zone policymakers have probably raised interest rates as far as they can without inflicting disproportionate damage on their economies, according to a quartet of leading economists. As reported by Bloomberg, the experts argued for patience even if that means a short-term bout of inflation. Read more FT: FSB seeks global clampdown on hedge fund borrowing The world’s financial stability watchdog is launching a probe of the build-up of debt outside traditional banks, as it seeks to limit hedge funds’ borrowing and boost transparency. Klaas Knot, chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), told the Financial Times (FT) that the review was intended to address rising risks from so-called “non-banks”. Read more EU Reporter: Privacy concerns surrounding the ECB’s Digital Euro The European Central Bank (ECB) is looking into deploying a central bank digital currency (CBDC) with stakeholders raising multiple concerns, including utility and privacy. According to the ECB, “user anonymity is not a desirable feature” because it would make controlling the amount of money in circulation difficult. The publication shows financial sector companies’ consideration of climate change has grown steadily in the past five years.
