Currently, we have the following consultations and calls for evidence open on our website with deadlines to submit your comments in October and November:

• Applications for authorisation;
• Identification of substances of very high concern;

• Potential candidates for substitution and on derogations conditions of biocidal products.

New intentions and proposals to harmonise classification and labelling

Two intentions have been submitted for:

• [4-[p,p'-bis(dimethylamino)benzhydrylidene]cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene]dimethylammonium m-[[p-anilinophenyl]azo]benzenesulphonate (EC 265-449-9, CAS 65113-55-5); and
• chlorantraniliprole (ISO); 3-bromo-N-[4-chloro-2-methyl-6-(methylcarbamoyl)phenyl]-1-(3-chloropyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxamide; 3-bromo-4′-chloro-1-(3-chloro-2-pyridyl)-2′-methyl-6′-(methylcarbamoyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxanilide (EC -, CAS 500008-45-7).

Ten proposals have been submitted for:

• rosin, hydrogenated (EC 266-041-3, CAS 65997-06-0);
• rosin, maleated (EC 232-480-4, CAS 8050-28-0);
• rosin, fumarated (EC 266-040-8, CAS 65997-04-8);
• rosin, oligomers (EC 500-163-2, CAS 65997-05-9);
• rosin (EC 232-475-7, CAS 8050-09-7);
• reaction products of tall oil fatty acids and tall oil rosin with maleic anhydride (EC -, CAS -);
• fatty acids, tall-oil, oligomeric reaction products with maleic anhydride and rosin, calcium magnesium zinc salts (EC 500-451-8, CAS 160901-14-4);
• Resin acids and Rosin acids, fumarated, esters with glycerol (EC 307-051-0, CAS 97489-11-7);
• Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, esters with pentaerythritol (EC 305-516-2, CAS 94581-17-6); and
• Reaction mass of 2-amino-2-methylpropanol and (2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylethyl)ammonium chloride [1] and (2-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylethyl)ammonium chloride [2] (EC -, CAS -).

European Commission

Biocides decisions on active substances and Union authorisations

The Commission has granted a Union authorisation for:

• the biocidal product family 'Divosan PAA products'.

The Commission has approved existing active substances:

• silver zinc zeolite for product-types 2, 7 and 9; and
• 2-methyl-4-oxo-3-(prop-2- ynyl)cyclopent-2-en-1-yl 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-methylprop-1-enyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate (prallethrin) for product-type 18.

Second workshop on Roadmap towards phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments

This workshop will take place on 25 October 2024 in Brussels and is open for all stakeholders interested in the Commission's roadmap towards phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments.

Topics to be discussed include critical elements related to developing, validating and implementing non-animal methods and their uptake across chemical legislation.

Register until 11 October 2024 to join the event. Participation is free of charge.
