In its October meeting, the Member State Committee agreed to identify triphenyl phosphate as a substance of very high concern because of its endocrine disrupting properties in the environment. The substance will be added to the Candidate List in early November 2024.
The committee also unanimously approved an alternative method, the non-vertebrate Hyalella Azteca test, HYBIT, to be used as the standard information requirement under REACH, where applicable. Using the test as the default is another step towards reducing testing on vertebrate animals.
