Poison centre notifications must be in harmonised format as of 1 January 2025

The end of the transition period for poison centre notifications is approaching. This means that all notifications for hazardous mixtures placed on the EU market must be in the harmonised format according to Annex VIII of the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation from 1 January 2025.

Prior Informed Consent (PIC)

Exchange of information under PIC reported for 2022-2023

Our fifth biennial report on the exchange of information under the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Regulation shows that numbers of export notifications sent from the European Union to non-EU countries remained on similar levels as previous years, with around 19 000 transmitted export notifications to circa 150 importing countries.
 
The report also gives a summary of the notifications for final regulatory actions that the EU submitted to the Rotterdam Convention Secretariat about banned or severely restricted chemicals that qualify for PIC notifications, as well as details on explicit consent responses and information exchange on ad hoc basis.

NAMs4NANO Project – promoting uses of new assessment methods

New reports under EFSA NAMs4NANO Project were published on the European Food Safety Authority's website.

NAMs4NANO promotes New Approach Methodologies to assess the potential food safety risks of nanoparticles. The reports were developed by experts from EFSA’s partners.
