New IUCLID service release published

The latest release from 11 November 2024 focuses on resolving existing issues and implementing enhancements. These include, for example, improvements to the interface and technical changes which are part of the continuous development of the IUCLID 6 application.

There are no changes to the data format. The full list of changes is available in the release notes.

Maintenance break

REACH

Consultations launched for applications for
authorisation

We have launched consultations on 10 applications for authorisation covering 9 uses of Chromium trioxide (EC 215-607-8, CAS 1333-82-0) and 1 use of Chromic acid (EC 231-801-5, CAS 7738-94-5). These are used for functional and decorative chrome plating of various components, electroplating, etching and surface treatment.

You can find more information about the uses that are applied for, including the description of the function of the substance, exposure scenarios, possible alternatives identified by the applicants, together with socio-economic information, on our website.

New substance evaluation conclusions published

• Bis(isopropyl)naphthalene (EC 254-052-6, CAS 38640-62-9), evaluated by Sweden.
  
• Imidazolium compounds, 2-C17-unsatd.-alkyl-1-(2-C18-unsatd. amidoethyl)-4,5-dihydro-N-methyl, Me sulfates (EC 931-745-8), evaluated by Sweden.

CLP

Updated guidance on new CLP criteria

We have updated our guidance on applying the classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) regulation. 

It covers advice on the new hazard criteria for

• endocrine disruptors (ED) for human health or the environment;
• persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT); very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substances; and
• persistent, mobile and toxic (PMT); very persistent and very mobile (vPvM) substances.

The guidance on endocrine disrupters was developed together with the European Food Safety Authority, EFSA.

Biocides

New quality rules introduced in IUCLID update

The recent IUCLID service release introduces 17 new quality rules that help you ensure the completeness of your active substance application.

We recommend using the Validation assistant on your applications to check for any issues before submitting them through the submission tool, R4BP 3.

We have four new accredited stakeholder organisations:

Biocides decision on Union authorisation

The Commission has granted a Union authorisation for:

• the biocidal product family 'Teat disinfectants L-(+)-lactic acid based biocidal product family of Novadan'.

New study on nanomaterial applications for agriculture

We have published a new study, conducted by Innovamol Srl, Modena (Italy), that evaluates nanomaterials applications in biocidal, plant protection, and fertilising products in agriculture.
