Call for evidence: screening report on tetraethyllead

We are looking for comments on a draft screening report, and for relevant information on tetraethyllead (EC 201-075-4, CAS 78-00-2) in articles.

As required by REACH Article 69(2), we are investigating whether the use of this substance in articles is adequately controlled, and if a restriction is needed.

Have your say until 18 December 2024.

New substance evaluation conclusions published

• 1,1'-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis[pentabromobenzene] (EC 284-366-9, CAS 84852-53-9), evaluated by Sweden.
  
  
• 2-tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol (EC 204-442-7, CAS 121-00-6), evaluated by France.

Endocrine and developmental immunotoxicity investigations in EOGRT studies

We have published a final report of projects resulting from the review of extended one-generation reproductive toxicity studies (EOGRTS).

This report provides an overview of these projects and their recommendations to improve the design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of these studies. It supplements the report of the EOGRTS review project from March 2023.

Biocides

Want to keep using Terbutryn and BIT under product-type 9?

Companies have withdrawn their interest in getting

• Terbutryn; and
• 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one (BIT)

approved in the biocides Review Programme for use in preservatives for fibre, leather, rubber and polymerised materials (product-type 9).

Notify us by 4 November 2025 to keep these substances in the Review Programme.

Revised guidelines for assessing confidentiality claims for biocides

We have published revised guidelines to help competent authorities assess confidentiality claims for biocides.

These guidelines provide recommendations that aim to support  harmonisation of the practices across authorities.

The document will be reviewed based on practical experience.
