Deepening Presence Each month we will highlight a teaching or practice from Eckhart's featured talk. We encourage you to join us in focusing on this practice for the month. |
“Conscious Interactions” When you interact with others, explains Eckhart, your underlying state of consciousness is what ultimately determines the nature and quality of the interaction. In August’s featured talk, Eckhart challenges us to deepen our “Presence practice” in the training ground of our interpersonal relationships. He suggests that even as you speak to and listen to another person, you should maintain alertness to the underlying Presence and pay attention to the “little spaces” in between thoughts. In this manner you can avoid being pulled into a seductive thought stream of opinions and judgments. By remaining alert, you free yourself from identification with mental positions. |
