During this month's main discussion, Eckhart elaborates upon the many ways you can identify too strongly with mental and emotional contents of your egoic self. He especially highlights how resentment takes you out of the present moment and prevents you from creating positive outcomes in interactions with others. He says, "Even just one surviving grievance in you can prevent you from fully accessing Presence . . . It's a dark spot in you that prevents consciousness from arising fully." In the coming weeks, we recommend that you examine every interaction in which you are emotionally triggered, judgmental, or hijacked by thoughts of past resentments. This is certainly difficult to do in the midst of a heated exchange. However, even if find yourself overwhelmed by egoic thought, we encourage you to take some time afterward to consider exactly what derailed your ability to stay present. Ask yourself the following questions: What egoic content triggered this lapse in Presence? Do I have past grievances that caused this triggering? Why did they come up in the course of the interaction? And how can I approach these old resentments in order to defuse their energy and remain in Presence? It's useful to recall one of Eckhart's central teachings on manifestation: when we are able to remain in alignment with the present moment, the outcomes we create will always be beneficial. What have you created in interactions this month? And how can you improve those creations by moving past grievance? Please visit our community Facebook group and share your experience. As always, we look forward to hearing about your journey. |
