Living a Life of Presence Each month we will highlight a teaching or practice from Eckhart's featured talk. We encourage you to join us in focusing on this practice for the month. |
In our featured talk this month, Eckhart discusses how in becoming present we rediscover the inherent goodness of life in any given moment. By bringing our attention to the sights, sounds, and objects we encounter as we make our way through the day, we can sense how the present moment provides the space in which all of our experience unfolds. This month, we invite you to make time to acknowledge the goodness of the moment as it unfolds for you, especially when you have a lot on your to-do list. As you prepare for your work day, for example, see if you can "keep a toe in the absolute" as you perform your routines. During your commute, see if your thoughts are pulled to future concerns—and if so, gently come back to the present. Remember Eckhart's on-the-spot inquiry, "What is my inner state right now?" as a cue to free yourself from compulsive thinking. |
