When it comes to good speeches, the 'eyes' have it

Making eye contact while giving a speech or presentation is critical to engaging your audience, writes Robin Stombler, author and president of Auburn Health Strategies. Stombler offers five strategies for developing the practice, including getting comfortable with looking yourself in the eye using a mirror and looking at one audience member per sentence during your presentation to avoid staring too long at a few people.

Report: Commercial real estate investments plummet

Global commercial real estate investments were down 37% year-over-year for the third quarter and totaled $647 billion for 2023, down 47% over 2022, according to CBRE, which attributes the significant drop to an economic slowdown, high interest rates and tight credit. "As central banks move start to cut interest rates and market conditions stabilize, we anticipate a recovery in investment activity in the second half of 2024," says Richard Barkham, CBRE global chief economist.
