Also, Elsa takes aim at Florida
By Bob WarrenIn hospice: Former Gov. Edwin Edwards has placed himself in hospice care, but that doesn't mean he thinks the end is near. Louisiana’s only four-term governor, Edwards said he's started planning his 95th birthday party. But, he added in Edwards-like fashion: “ . . . we each know that all this fun has to end at some point.” ‘Noxious’ fumes: Spurred by chemical odors, sometimes bad enough to make their eyes burn, some residents in the Irish Channel and Harvey have banded together to find the source. Check out Halle Parker’s story. Elsa takes aim: The west coast of Florida is bracing for some rough weather from Tropical Storm Elsa. Elsa, which was nearing Key West this morning, could strengthen to near hurricane status by the time it makes landfall Wednesday. Here’s the latest. A billion years ago...: If a black hole swallows a dead star and no one .... oh, never mind. Scientists in the woods of Livingston Parish have detected a black hole swallowing a dead star. Like an alligator eating its fill of nutria, James Finn writes. Also in the news: St. Charles Parish authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver who badly hurt a 4-year-old. And The Mall of Louisiana was closed this morning after a python escaped from its enclosure. Really. All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
