Edwins celebrates new beginnings in former Nighttown space  

Edwins, known for training formerly incarcerated individuals in fine dining, has moved from Shaker Square to the historic Nighttown space in Cleveland Heights. The expanded location features French cuisine, multiple dining spaces including a cigar room, and aims for Michelin star recognition. Marc Bona reports the restaurant opened February 28, maintaining Nighttown's musical legacy while offering an elevated dining experience. Chef-owner Brandon Chrostowski has created a high-low environment with segregated spaces - fine dining, comfortable bar area, brasserie and lounge.  READ MORE 

 

Happy Hour Project: La Ville Lumiere offers French-inspired fun

This year everyone is spending more on feeding themselves at home or restaurants. Despite tight budgets, most people – especially extroverts like reporters Paris Wolfe and Alex Darus -- need to get out. And, like everyone we need to support local restaurants to keep them in business. Sometimes that may be as simple as a Happy Hour dinner. So, we launched “The Happy Hour Project.” Paris and Alex will regularly visit independent restaurants in Northeast Ohio for happy hour and report back on the vibe, food and cocktails and how they’ll impact your budget. Up first: La Ville, the relaxed and elegant French brasserie operated by Chef Kevin O’Connell on Cleveland’s near West Side. READ MORE

 

Fast Eddie’s Kitchen & Bar to close Parma location after 10 years

Eddie Cerino of Fast Eddie’s Kitchen & Bar said he has decided not to renew the restaurant’s lease at The Shoppes at Parma after the end of the year. Rent and labor costs contributed to the decision to close the restaurant, although Cerino said he is looking for a new location. Last day of operation is Wednesday, Dec. 31. READ MORE

 

Harvest for Hunger kicks off 

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank launched the annual Harvest for Hunger campaign, a collaborative effort between several food banks that helps people in more than 20 Ohio counties. Last year the initiative raised $9.77 million. It will culminate with Market at the Food Bank, a soiree held at the food bank’s partner -distribution hub on April 27. READ MORE

Ohio’s ‘eggonomic’ crisis: Bird flu means egg prices continue rising 

With Easter coming, folks may need a bank loan to color eggs. Egg prices may not come down anytime soon, according to Todd Bahler, buyer and store supervisor for Ohio-based Discount Drugmart. The reason for increases isn’t political. It’s bird flu also known as avian influenza or H5N1. READ MORE

Personal chef April Thompson is holding a cooking class to instruct folks on how to make healthy and flavorful meals. Thompson, who always has a variety of culinary projects going, has been a personal chef for several professional athletes in her cooking career. Lenten fish fry deals: Cleveland’s top restaurants for 2025 

Northeast Ohio restaurants are ready for the Lenten season with an array of fish fry specials. From traditional beer-battered cod to Lake Erie perch, more than 40 establishments are offering seafood dishes with classic sides like pierogi, fries, and coleslaw through Easter Sunday. Alex Darus and Paris Wolfe report on prices ranging from budget-friendly $10.99 specials to upscale $28 walleye dinners, with some locations featuring all-you-can-eat options and unique preparations like koji-fried fish. Crowds pack Winter Warmer Fest again 

The 18th Winter Warmer Fest, a fundraiser for the Ohio Craft Brewers Association, sold out again. The event, held Saturday at Windows on the River in Cleveland’s Flats, brought in dozens of breweries, scores of beers and multiple brewers. Craft-beer fans had a lot to choose from as breweries brought many different styles to the fun annual fest. READ MORE

 

Six new vendors join West Side Market pilot program 

Six new vendors will begin selling their products at the West Side Market on Saturday, March 1. Their three-month move into stands B-4 and B-5 is part of a pilot program between the market and the Cleveland Central Kitchen. A standout white pizza at Gordon Square's Il Rione has earned the title of Cleveland's best pizza bianco.
