Asbestos – mae’r ymgyrch Eich Dyletswydd yn cefnogi'r rhai sydd â dyletswydd i reoli asbestos yng Nghymru

Mae ymgyrch Yr Awdurdod Gweithredol Iechyd a Diogelwch (HSE) Asbestos - Eich Dyletswydd yn cefnogi deiliaid dyletswydd i gadw pobl yng Nghymru yn ddiogel rhag peryglon asbestos yn y dyfodol.

Nodwyd Tachwedd diwethaf 25 mlynedd ers gwahardd asbestos yn y DU, ond gall asbestos fod yn bresennol o hyd mewn adeiladau a godwyd neu a adnewyddwyd, cyn 2000. Adeiladau y mae pobl yn eu defnyddio yn eu bywydau bob dydd, fel gweithleoedd, ysgolion, ysbytai, ffatrïoedd, siopau ac adeiladau hamdden yw canolbwynt yr ymgyrch.

Mae'r Awdurdod Gweithredol Iechyd a Diogelwch (HSE) wedi cyhoeddi canllawiau Cymreig i wella dealltwriaeth o'r hyn y mae'r ddyletswydd gyfreithiol i reoli asbestos yn ei olygu.

Ni fydd pobl sy'n ymweld neu'n gweithio yn yr adeiladau hyn mewn perygl os yw asbestos wedi cael ei gyfyngu'n gywir. Ond gall fod yn beryglus pan fydd yn cael ei ddifrodi neu darfu arno. Gellir cuddio asbestos o fewn gwahanol ddeunyddiau, er enghraifft:

• deunydd lapio ar beiriannau a phibellwaith
• cynhyrchion ynysu fel paneli gwrth-dân
• deunydd toi sment asbestos
• haenau wedi'u chwistrellu ar waith dur strwythurol i ynysu yn erbyn tân a sŵn

 

Mae'r ymgyrch yn targedu unrhyw un sydd â chyfrifoldebau am gynnal a chadw adeiladau, gan ddarparu cymorth ac adnoddau i helpu i gydymffurfio â'r gyfraith ac atal dod i gysylltiad ag asbestos.

Mae gwefan HSE wedi diweddaru gwybodaeth, templedi newydd (gan gynnwys templed cynllun rheoli asbestos), a fideos esboniadol.

Asbestos – Your Duty campaign supports those with a duty to manage asbestos in Wales  

HSE’s Asbestos: Your Duty campaign supports dutyholders to keep people in Wales safe from future dangers of asbestos.

Last November marked 25 years since asbestos was banned in the UK, but Asbestos may still be present in buildings built, or refurbished, before 2000. Buildings that people use in their daily lives, such as workplaces, schools, hospitals, factories, shops and leisure premises are the focus of the campaign.

HSE has published Welsh guidance to improve understanding of what the legal duty to manage asbestos involves.

People who visit or work in these buildings will not be at risk if asbestos is properly contained. But it can become dangerous harmful when disturbed or damaged. Asbestos can be hidden within different materials, for example:

• lagging on plant and pipework
• insulation products such as fireproof panels
• asbestos cement roofing material
• sprayed coatings on structural steel work to insulate against fire and noise

 

The campaign targets anyone with responsibilities for a building maintenance, providing support and resources to help comply with the law and prevent exposure to asbestos.

HSE’s website has updated information, new templates (including an asbestos management plan template), and explanatory videos.
