Elevance-Blue Cross deal to help set up $3 billion foundation; some will receive checks

The proposed sale of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to Elevance Health will lead to the establishment of a $3 billion private foundation, aimed at addressing health inequalities across Louisiana, and payment checks being issued to certain policyholders.

The Accelerate Louisiana Initiative will be one of the largest private foundations of its kind in the country, Blue Cross officials said Wednesday.
