Roadshow: Don’t rely on Tesla AutopilotOne of Tesla’s most popular features is its unique Autopilot Mode, where the car is capable of driving semi-autonomously. It uses advanced sensors to detect road hazards, but it’s not 100% perfect (no technology like this is just yet). That’s why you should never rely on it to get from point A to B, like one driver from North Carolina tried to do. In an attempt to have his cake and eat it too, the driver decided to kick back and watch a movie on his phone by turning on Tesla’s Autopilot. But after a few minutes of driving with his eyes off the road, the man’s vehicle slammed into none other than a police car! Thankfully, nobody was hurt — but the sheer embarrassment of it all will last a lifetime. Despite Autopilot being somewhat limited, Teslas are pretty good with crashes otherwise. Tap or click here to see why the Model 3 does so well in crashes. → |
