Fed expected to hold rates, signal Sept. cut The U.S. Federal Reserve is expected to indicate a rate cut will come in September when it meets today to discuss its benchmark rate. The U.S. Federal Open Market Committee is expected to keep rates in a range of 5.25% to 5.5% this month when it concludes its meeting on Wednesday, but policymakers are expected to recognize progress has been made towards the 2% inflation goal and indicate a rate cut to come at the next meeting.
