Where NOLA Eats

Welcome back, New Orleans food fans! This week, celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse talks about his plans for a French restaurant at the Caesars casino. As crawfish season winds down, Ian McNulty reflects on the gifts of the backyard boil. Entrepreneur Larry Morrow opens a French Quarter location that honors his heritage, and a popular food festival returns with a new location. A New Orleans restaurant group expands to the Gulf Coast. Finally, it's graduation time! Liz Williams celebrates with recipes for crab cakes, butternut soup and a flaming apple cake.

1. Good food in the cards.

As Harrah’s New Orleans casino continues its transformation into Caesars, it's getting a new restaurant from Emeril Lagasse. Emeril’s Brasserie is slated to open in late 2023, Ian McNulty reports.

2. Pour one out?

Crawfish take time to cook and time to eat, and the messy glory means that cell phones have to be set aside for a while. With the end of the season, the crawfish boil's customs and traditions will play out in backyards across New Orleans.

3. Wait! There's more.

Larry Morrow named his new French Quarter restaurant and bar Sun Chong, a tribute to his grandmother. A popular food festival with an inclusive, pay-one-price admission will set up at the riverfront this year. And the New Orleans group Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts is bringing Caribbean flavors to the Gulf Coast.

4. Pomp it up.

After the graduate walks down the aisle, they'll walk straight to the dinner table for this celebratory dinner. Liz Williams has easy recipes for crab cakes, butternut soup and a very special flaming apple cake.

That's it for the food newsletter, but in New Orleans, the food news never stops. Keep up with all the inside info at Where NOLA Eats.
