We watch Trombone Shorty hype New Orleans' own Folgers coffee in a high-energy national ad. A Vietnamese restaurant family serves their mom's classic pho with ... pizza and barbecue? A new line of canned wine honors "Mr. Mardi Gras" himself, the late Carnival artist Blaine Kern. Faubourg Brewing turns a beer into funding for Mardi Gras Indians, and Pontchartrain Vineyards in Bush changes hands. Let's dig in... 1. What's next for Emeril? The St. Charles Avenue restaurant Emeril's Domenico will not reopen, chef and owner Emeril Lagasse confirmed last week. But restaurants under the celebrity chef's banner are returning, and Lagasse is hinting at new concepts to come. Ian McNulty has the story. 2. Caffeine machine. Folgers wants you to know: It's not your grandma's coffee anymore. The roaster has decided to rebrand, placing its New Orleans hometown front and center in an energetic new ad starring musical legend Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. A Vietnamese-American family has created a network of restaurants across New Orleans, but mom's cooking is still the foundation of it all. Mr. Mardi Gras Wines, named for the late, great Carnival artist Blaine Kern, rolls out a line of canned wines that pair nicely with parades. In collaboration with the Mardi Gras Indian Council, Faubourg Brewing turns a beer into funding to support this very special tradition, and a New Orleans couple takes over Pontchartrain Vineyards in Bush, on the North Shore. 4. A toast to day drinkers Bloody marys, bottomless mimosas: There's a lively debate raging on the Where NOLA Eats Facebook page over the best place for lazy days of sipping. Chime in here. 5. Game on!
