“Baby Girl, don’t put the key to your happiness – your success, your safety – in someone else’s pocket.” I said that to Kawai one day as we were talking about college and relationships. She looked puzzled. I repeated it and then explained. “Don’t rely on someone else to do the right thing, or protect your safety. Don’t rely on others to be as invested in your success as you. You take that initiative. You take control.” Today’s Training Magazine story talks about how employers can encourage their workers to be in control of their own career trajectory. And if you enjoy this brief, tell others so they can benefit also.
