Bitcoiners Are Flocking To Nostr, But What Makes It Different Than Twitter?

Nostr is a decentralized information protocol. The most common use case for Nostr is as an alternative to Twitter that better protects users from censorship. 

The technology utilizes a public/private key pair to handle identity, and events are structured in a specifically-defined way, including the public key of the creator, a timestamp, type, content payload and signature.

It also has tags referencing other events or users, and an ID value which is a hash of everything except the creator's signature.

This allows users to post content to one relay server while still being able to view content hosted on other servers. In addition, a major point of Nostr is that even if one relay server begins shuts down or begins to censor, forcing users elsewhere, those users can take their followers with them to a new relay server, a key feature for longevity and true decentralization.

Luxor’s Hashrate Index 2022 Mining Year In Review Shows Bitcoin’s Resilience

Despite the bear market leading to a hashprice all-time low, bankruptcies and losses for publicly traded miners, Hashrate Index's 2022 Bitcoin Mining Year In Review shows that the network hash rate still grew 41%.

In addition, Bitcoin miners generated nearly double the rewards compared to the previous three years. This goes in hand with the expansions made based off orders in 2021 and 2022 and the increasing share of hash rate held by public mining companies.  

Even with factors such as increasing industrial electricity rates and major public mining stocks tumbling more than 90%, these external challenges could not hamper the growth of the Bitcoin mining industry. It truly is a resilient space.
