Engaging in the experience of Nature Observation ZEISS Nature Conservation Projects |
The fascination and wonder of the outdoors can be experienced and enjoyed with ZEISS products for nature observation. It is in our best interest to create equal opportunities so birding may be accessible to everyone. It is imperative that we protect nature, its native habitat and species so future generations will be able to share in the same observations.

New ZEISS Partnership with Birdability promotes inclusion and access for those with disabilities or health concerns. |
Birdability is a newly created non-profit organization based in the U.S. with global reach. The organization has been formed to increase inclusion and access in the birding community and the outdoors. Birdability’s vision is that birding is truly for everybody and their mission is to share the joys of birding with people who have disabilities, and to ensure birding is accessible for everyone.
The ZEISS funding will support the virtual programming and bring birds into the homes of many attendees who may have access challenges that prevent them from getting out and seeing these birds in-person. Apart from that, we also provide the organization with different optics. |

„ZEISS sees itself as a true community partner and believes in supporting causes championing the inclusiveness Birdability seeks to develop awareness for.” - Rich Moncrief, Manager, New Business Development

ZEISS becoming Birdlife Species Champion for the endangered Spotted Greenshank |
Spotted Greenshank (Tringa guttifer) is listed as ‘Endangered’ on the IUCN Red List, with the remaining global population estimated at approximately 1,500 individuals. It currently faces an ongoing decline, driven principally by habitat loss and degradation, at unprotected non-breeding sites.
A critical action, now planned for the conservation of this species, is to increase the number and area of protected sites and, in doing so, bring them all under conservation management, whilst strengthening the engagement of communities living in and around their locations. |
“Spotted Greenshank is another example of a threatened migratory bird that needs urgent help, so we are pleased to support BirdLife’s vital research and conservation action to help protect it on its wintering grounds.” - Petra Kregelius-Schmidt, Global Marketing Manager for Nature Observation from ZEISS. |

Protecting Bird Migration in Eilat The long-winged Club is in Trouble |
The long-winged club is not for every bird. It’s for the tough ones only. Global climate change has made their lives harder with longer migration routes, faster migrations and desertification among other heightened risks.
The International Birding & Research Centre, Eilat (IBRCE) safeguards the skies of their flyway and stopover sites that the birds use. They save and improve stopover sites and habitats, and reduce hazards to birds and maintain and run the Bird Sanctuary as a habitat for a very large diversity of birds. |
ZEISS supports the IBRCE with optics, and the impacts are far reaching. These initiatives also assist bird populations in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Read more about the challenges the long-winged club had to face this spring in Eilat. |
