Sustainable Design’s

Most Significant Prize

UCLA Margo Leavin Graduate Art Studios by Johnston Marklee, USA - Winner 2017

BIG U by Bjarke Ingels Group - Winner 2015

The Holcim Foundation Awards competition was created in 2004. Over 20 years, it has committed over USD 20M to spotlighting sustainable design projects.

The legacy of the Awards is impressive. Past winners include New York’s BIG U by Bjarke Ingels Group and One Architecture. Pritzker Prize-Winner Diébédo Francis Kéré received a Holcim Foundation Award early in his career, in 2012, for the Secondary School in Gando, Burkina Faso.

The Awards have been a catalyst in elevating the work of practices - both small and large - pioneering in their fields. The competition has also long-spotlighted projects struggling to get the attention they deserve in developing regions.
