Hardening the grid: Entergy New Orleans has a $1 billion plan to harden the electrical grid, a proposal it says would decrease the frequency of power outages and cost far less that repairing the grid after every major storm. But the plan, which will need the approval of the New Orleans City Council, would also mean years of significant rate increases for consumers. Matt Sledge has the story.
An officer honored: Trevor Abney, the 34-year-old NOPD officer shot in the head in the French Quarter in October 2020, was laid to rest in his hometown of Slidell on Tuesday. Abney died April 9 of complications from the gunshot wound he sustained when a man in a pedicab fired at him and another officer on patrol. Missy Wilkinson and Joni Hess have the story.
