It's that time of year again...

Entries are now OPEN for the New Travel Writer of the Year Competition 2022!

For over twenty years, this competition has been seeking out and championing new writing talent. Previous winners and finalists in the competition have gone on to see their work published in newspapers, travel magazines and books.

As the world is beginning to open up and travel once again seems possible, there has never been a better time to get involved. As previously, we’ve teamed up with the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards to offer this unrivalled opportunity for unpublished travel writers.

The theme for this year’s competition is It was Strangely Quiet and all entrants are invited to submit a piece of between 600 and 800 words that focuses on this topic.

Three finalists will be invited to the Edward Stanford Travel Writing awards ceremony in London in early 2022, where the winner will be announced alongside the other awards.

Entries cost £15 and include a FREE copy of Travel Write, the newly published anthology of previous finalists.

Looking for a little inspiration before you enter our New Travel Writer of the Year Competition 2022?

Travel Write is a select anthology of the best pieces of writing to pass in front of the judges’ eyes over the past 20 years.

In keeping with the spirit of the competition, both new and previously published writers are included, young and old, based in countries across the globe and offering a collection of true stories that reflect our endless appetite for travel, adventure and connection. All of these tales paint vivid pictures through the power of their writing – and they do it in under 800 words each!

From soothing, familiar scenes in some of our favourite destinations to unrepeatable and uncomfortable exploits in obscure corners of the world, reading these stories is the perfect way to get inspired for this year's competition.
