EONS APP HELPS MEET
PROSTATE CANCER PATIENT NEEDS
Across Europe, there has been a lack of official consensus on best practice for the care of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer, limited research evidence into the training needs of nurses and doctors, and a lack of knowledge of the supportive care needs of prostate cancer patients themselves. To address this, EONS initiated a project involving in-depth research, surveys of nurses, young oncologists and urologists, and prostate cancer patients as well as systematic review of the relevant literature. Now, the data gathered has been incorporated within a free mobile application (App) designed to help cancer nurses assess and address the unmet needs of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer according to the latest evidence-based assessment tools and management interventions. The App will be officially launched at EONS12.
EONS GUIDANCE – CANCER THERAPY INDUCED
NAUSEA AND VOMITING

You will also be able to download a PDF copy from the EONS website in due course. NEWS FROM ACROSS EUROPE

EUROPEAN COMMISSION ANNOUNCES
CANCER MISSION BOARD
The European Commission has announced the launch of a major new research and innovation (R&I) mission for cancer. This important step means that the Commission is taking cancer very seriously – no other disease type has its own mission – and could see far greater resources for cancer in the coming years. The new ‘mission board’ of 15 experts has been convened to develop a strategy for reducing cancer in Europe over the next 18 months, after which there will be new calls for collaboration which we will be watching out for. EONS looks forward to having influence through our public health umbrella organisation EPHA and other individuals on the cancer board with whom we have close links.

She has a remit from the highest levels of the European Commission to create a European plan to beat cancer which can be seen in her Mission Letter  This is fantastic news for all of us and shows real commitment from the Commission to improve cancer prevention and care in Europe.
