December 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, we want to sincerely thank you for your continued readership and engagement throughout the year. This final month has been particularly eventful, with the election of a new Chair and a renewed Board, release of an interview on the Wero digital wallet, and important updates such as calls for candidates for the SEPA Payment Account Access Multi-Stakeholder Group (SPAA MSG) and the Payment Scheme Management Board (PSMB). We have also published the annual Payment Threats and Fraud Trends Report and we are seeking for a technology service provider to develop and operate the VOP API Reference Toolbox for the Verification of Payee (VOP) scheme.

As we head towards the most magical time of the year, we would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025.

Gijs Boudewijn elected new Chair of the European Payments Council, succeeding Javier Santamaría

The EPC has elected Gijs Boudewijn as its new Chair, succeeding Javier Santamaría Navarrete, who has chaired the EPC since 2012. Rita Camporeale has been appointed as Vice-Chair. The new Chair will assume the role in June 2025 for a two-year term.

Last month, we issued a call for interest inviting service providers to offer Verification of Payee (VoP) scheme-compliant Routing and/or Verification Mechanisms (RVMs). The call attracted approximately 50 candidates from 21 countries, with 45 of them agreeing to be listed on our website.
