Despite appeals from Pope Francis and members of Congress, Missouri inmate Ernest Johnson was put to death Tuesday after the Supreme Court declined to intervene on his behalf. Johnson, who was convicted in the murders of three convenience store employees, was said to have had a mental disability, according to his lawyer. |
