ESAB Contest Offers $20,000 School Weld Shop Makeover

To support students pursuing careers in metal working, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products has launched a WeldItForward student and school contest, which offers ESAB equipment, filler metal and cash prizes with a total retail value exceeding $97,000. The contest is open now!

WeldItForward Contest – Phase 1: Essay

+ The essay phase is open now through October 9 to schools in the United States and Canada (except Quebec); 500 words can make your school a winner!
+ Six semi-finalist schools will receive an ESAB welding and cutting equipment package to be used during Phase 2 of the contest - a value of more than $6,000! We will announce the semi-finalists on November 7.

Metal Fabrication Project – Phase 2

+ Using their ESAB equipment packages, student teams from the six will schools will create a Metal Fabrication Project. The project runs November 13 – March 9, 2018.
+ Judges will select two winning schools -- one secondary and one post-secondary -- to receive a grand prize of $20,000 in ESAB equipment and filler metals. Visit the contest page for details on your $20,000 ESAB shopping spree.
+ Students on the six winning teams receive a Sentinel A50 helmet, a $314 retail value.
+ Students on the two grand prize winning teams will each receive a $250 cash prize.

ESAB has also launched the website, which includes a wealth of resources — such as scholarship, grant and career information — from five leading organizations: American Welding Society (AWS), Chemical Coaters Association International (CCAI), Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA), Precision Metal Forming Association (PMA) and SME (previously the Society of Manufacturing Engineers).
