2 April 2025Tourism Australia UpdateLast week we led our largest ever delegation of aviation stakeholders to Routes Asia, held in Perth / Boorloo, Western Australia. As part of a ‘Team Australia’ approach, we were pleased to host with Tourism Western Australia and Perth Airport, more than 70 Australian delegates from 24 organisations (airports and state and territory governments) exhibiting at the event. The airline network planning conference was attended by more than 900 delegates, including senior leaders of 100 of the world’s airlines, to identify new international route opportunities and optimise existing air services. The Business Events Australia Greater China Showcase 2025 kicked off in Xiamen, China this week. Joined by 29 Australian industry organisations, the event is designed to provide sellers with a platform to develop their relationships with incentive agent buyers and corporate customers from Greater China, as well as provide insights into market trends and customer behaviour. Greater China remains one of Australia’s most important markets for corporate incentive travel. Tourism Research Australia’s latest International Visitor Survey shows more than 95,000 business events visitors travelled from Greater China in 2024, with a total spend of A$555 million. Congratulations to Craig Davidson, who beat a competitive field to become the new CEO of Tourism and Events Queensland and started this week. We look forward to continuing our great work together as part of Team Australia. Finally, last Friday we held our Industry Webinar. The update included a recap of Tourism Australia’s activities as well as a deep dive into China and Aviation with our Executive General Manager, Eastern Markets & Aviation, Andrew Hogg. We also caught up with Paul Ah Chee, the recently appointed Chair of Tourism NT. If you missed the update you can watch it on demand here. |
