Major business events showcase to be hosted in Perth

Tourism Australia’s signature event for promoting Australia as a world-class incentive destination, Dreamtime, will be held in Perth from 2 to 3 December 2019. Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham , said Dreamtime would have significant flow on effects for years down the track for local businesses and the West Australian economy. As part of the Dreamtime program, Australian industry will have the opportunity to meet and do business with qualified buyers from key markets including Greater China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, New Zealand, USA and the United Kingdom during business sessions – helping to secure future incentive business for Australia.

Tourism Australia and Singapore Airlines re-affirm close ties

Tourism Australia and Singapore Airlines have re-affirmed their strong commercial ties by signing a new three-year strategic marketing deal worth A$11 million. The agreement will see the two parties jointly fund a range of tourism campaigns and promotional activities in eight of Australia’s key inbound markets – Singapore, as well as China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and the UK. Tourism Australia’s Managing Director John O’Sullivan said Singapore Airlines has an extensive network across Asia and Europe which aligns closely with key markets targeted by Tourism Australia. “Working closely with Singapore Airlines extends the reach of Tourism Australia’s campaigns to help convert traveller interest into actual tourism bookings,” he said.

Chinese influencer visits Brisbane and Gold Coast for media promotion

Lin Yanjun, a member of popular Chinese boy band NINE PERCENT, was in Brisbane and the Gold Coast last week for a photo shoot for the December edition of COSMO magazine in China. COSMO is preparing a 28-page special on the Aussie lifestyle for its Chinese readers which Tourism Australia is supporting through its international media hosting program. During his visit to Brisbane, Lin Yanjun posted pictures on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, which reached over 270 million engagements.

The world’s best return to Melbourne for The 2019 Australian Open

Tickets are now on sale for the 107th Australian Open in Melbourne from 14th – 27th of January 2019.  With action packed events over 13 days the best tennis players in the world including Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic, Naomi Osaka, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer, will battle it out on Rod Laver Arena’s iconic blue courts. The 2019 Australian Open will also offer fans more seating choices and events than ever before, with concerts, interactive gaming installations, iconic pop-up restaurants and local food trucks.

Sunrise Yoga returns to the steps of the Sydney Opera House

Back by popular demand, early morning yoga sessions known as Sunrise on the Steps will return to the iconic Sydney Opera House. Ticket holders can start their day with an inspirational guided yoga session whilst enjoying the peaceful surrounds and spectacular views of the Sydney harbour. The 60-minute yoga sessions will take place from 10 October – 15 December, 2018 and are suitable for beginners to the most seasoned yogis. Pre-booking before arrival is essential.

The Summer Festival of Lord Howe Island to debut in 2019, NSW

Pinetrees Lodge has announced the inaugural Summer Festival of Lord Howe Island to be held from 27 January - 2 February, 2019. The 6-day festival promises a program of live music, guided adventure activities, yoga classes, cooking classes, wine tasting, long picnic lunches and special guest appearances. Lord Howe Island is known for its pristine World Heritage beaches, mountains, forests and coral reefs and is accessible by flight from Sydney or Brisbane airports. Festival packages and rooms are available to book now.

Howard Smith Wharves announces new riverfront event spaces in Brisbane’s CBD

Set to open in November 2018, Brisbane’s newest lifestyle and entertainment destination Howard Smith Wharves has announced two new flexible event spaces overlooking the lively riverfront precinct. The River Shed is a former heritage wharf building turned into a flexible event space with panoramic views of the city and Story Bridge. With capacity for up to 630 people for standing cocktail or 480 people for seated guests, the large open space is designed with industrial character. For a more boutique and intimate setting The Houses spaces offer a beautiful verdant garden setting.

Industry briefings in SA, TAS and NSW

Registration is open for Tourism Australia’s industry briefings in Adelaide from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday 9 November at the Playford and Hobart from 2.00 to 4.00pm on Friday 9 November at the Grand Chancellor ahead of the Tourism Awards Gala Dinners in each location. Tourism Australia is also holding an industry briefing in Sydney from 2.00 to 4.30pm on Friday 23 November at The Hilton. The briefings will involve senior executives from Tourism Australia and State Tourism executives providing an update on current and future activity and sharing research and insights from key international markets.

Tourism and Events Queensland's Annual Report 2017-18  was tabled in Queensland Parliament on 28 September.

The NSW Government has signed a new two-year agreement with Singapore Airlines which takes effect from 1 July 2019 and is aimed at boosting tourism traffic to the State.

Tourism Accommodation Australia has published a new report titled the Innovation Revolution Transforming Australia’s Hotel Industry.

Applications are open for the $4 million Events Tasmania Attraction Fund which supports a regionally balanced events portfolio for Tasmania throughout the year that provide strong economic and cultural benefits to the State.

Registration is open for the inaugural Australian Wine Industry Impact Conference to be held in Adelaide on Thursday 18 October at the Grand Chancellor Hotel.

Registration is open for the Australian Regional Tourism Convention (ARTC) 2018 to be held in the Tweed from 23-25 October.

Applications are open until Sunday 4 November for the NSW Government's 2019 Incubator Event Fund to assist events in rural and regional NSW in areas such as marketing, public relations, venue hire and attendee research.

Registration is open for Tourism and Events Queensland's International Market Briefings in Cairns on Monday 12 November, Brisbane on Tuesday 13 November and the Gold Coast on Thursday 15 November.

 
 

Registration is open for the inaugural Adventure Tourism Awards and Youth Tourism Conference on the Gold Coast on Wednesday 14 November.

The program for the Global Eco Asia Pacific Tourism Conference in Townsville on 26-28 November has now been released.

Entries are open until Sunday 30 September for the first Destination Gold Coast Content Awards to celebrate the best of digital and social storytelling from the region. #DGCCA #WeAreGoldCoast

The next funding round of the Queensland Destination Events Program is open until Wednesday 10 October.

Registration is open for travel business and investment conference Travel IQ on Wednesday 24 October in Sydney.

Registration is open for the Australian Indigenous Tourism Conference to be held in Lorne, Victoria from 30 October to 1 November.
