A summit for the city
I wanted to share some highlights from my participation in the Baltimore Together Summit today. It was an incredible opportunity to discuss innovation and the crucial role of women in driving progress in our city.
Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC), who you’ll see in our coverage today, tapped me to help form the panel a few months ago. During the summit, attendees and folks livestreaming got to learn about companies like JuneBrain, whose focus on improving remote assessments for neurological and retinal diseases truly impressed me. Dr. Sam Scott's work on the AI-powered eye-scanning device was so cool to learn about and I hope to chat more with her for Technical.ly soon.
ReBokeh, founded by Rebecca Rosenberg, struck a chord with her very personal dedication to assisting those with moderate vision impairment through innovative technology.
And, of course, I was truly inspired by my friend and artist Nia June, whose films are making a lasting impact on our city's art scene and driving forward some of our best ideas.
Baltimore Together is just one of many wonderful initiatives that recognize our city's potential. I got to chat with Greater Baltimore Committee CEO Mark Anthony Thomas, who introduced President Biden at the official tech hub announcement last week. Did y’all know he’s also a poet and a filmmaker? Makes sense — artists, in my opinion, are some of the best leaders.
