Announcing the 12th ETF Express European awards

March 2022 will see the 12th outing of the ETF Express European awards, the oldest of the ETF awards in Europe. The pandemic turned the awards into a virtual event in the last couple of years but in previous times many of you in the European ETF industry will remember this popular and collegiate awards event.
ETF Express is very pleased to announce that the 2022 awards will be held in partnership with Trackinsight, who will be providing data support for the issuer categories.
At the time of writing, the awards will be an in-person event in London at the end of March. We will publish more information and start the process of nominating service providers early next year, followed by publication of the ETF issuer shortlists, drawn from Trackinsight data.
This week’s newsletter brings you crypto (almost inevitably) but with a hint of cannabis and clean energy. We have interviews with Purpose Investments’ Greg Taylor and Nicolas Mersch, talking about their three ETFs listed on the London Stock Exchange through partnerships with HANetf, bringing medical cannabis, clean energy and enterprise software to the European and UK investor.
Crypto news comes from Will Fisher, Senior Quantitative Developer at SigTech, who sets out in his In My Opinion to investigate how Proshares’ bitcoin ETF works in practice and how to simulate its performance.
His research reveals the true impact of the rolling futures and contango issues attached to futures-based portfolios. We also detail the wave of crypto ETP launches that crashed over us this week in our Global ETF launches column.
Finally, ETF Express caught up with Jamie Mead, Chief Executive Officer of Australia’s Talaria Capital which has recently launched its first active ETFs. Mead also filled us in on the growing demand for ETFs in Australia.
