Active ETFs continue to dominate 2024

We are very happy to bring you our latest Off the Record podcast this week which sees Truss Edge’s Dave Shastri and Harbor Capital Advisors’ Steve Cook talking about the complexities of managing active ETFs.

Active ETFs have seen the most success this year, with LSEG Lipper’s ETF data for July reporting Active/Semi Active ETFs enjoying inflows (+USD27.8 billion) for the month.

Truss Edge offers its administrative services to hedge funds and ETFs so is uniquely well placed to understand the demands of active managers. In the podcast, Dave Shastri comments that there has been a shift in public perception of ETFs which is driving the growth in active ETFs, while Steve Cook notes that the 2019 ETF rule has unleashed new opportunities for ETFs in the US. Listen to the podcast here.

Active ETFs were also part of the discussion with Switzerland’s SIX Exchange’s David Smith this week, with Smith saying: "Active ETFs have grown across this year with more issuers for those types of products." Smith notes that ETF issuers have been the first movers, plus new entrants are looking to wrap their investment strategy within the ETF wrapper.
