This week we published the ETF Express European Awards’ winners 2024 Special Report which featured interviews with some of our winners and very much reflected the evolving nature of this great ETF industry of ours. Active ETFs featured heavily in new trends in our sector, and as we went to press, the French authorities allowed active ETFs in France. Silvia Bosoni, Group Head of ETFs at Euronext, says: "The impact of active ETFs on the industry is still small in absolute terms, but the growth trend is strong and experts believe it will continue", says Bosoni.

Future trends dominated Solactive’s thoughts this week with head of research Konrad Sippel talking to Fiona Nicolson on the publication of the firm’s 2024 future trends report. Space age going commercial features heavily, he says, plus quantum computing and what’s next after AI. "We have private-sector companies providing the equipment, tools and rockets for the next generation of space exploration," Sippel says. "From speaking to clients, we’ve found that there’s a lot of interest in the space chapter of our report."

Data from BlackRock reveals that March was a record inflow month for global ETPs, with commodity flows seeing the most notable shift, notching up their first inflow month since May 2023 with USD1.0 billion of buying, driven by silver ETPs.

Today is the last day of nominations for service providers in the ETF Express Canadian awards and Monday will see the opening of the voting survey for Canadian issuers and service providers. Remember the firms with the most votes win, so get involved and start voting.
