Keeping it active and the launch of Ethereum ETFs in the US

This week our US correspondent Bailey McCann reported on the rise of active ETFs this year. McCann reports data from Morningstar, which finds that active ETFs have captured 25 per cent of ETF flows through to the end of June and grew organically at a rate of 20 per cent, while passive ETFs grew at just 3 per cent over the same period.

Actively managed ETF assets grew to a record USD889 billion, up from USD714 billion at the start of this year, she says.

We like to keep it active over here at ETF Express and we have a new episode of our Off the Record podcast, in partnership this time with Harbor Capital Advisors, with Marcus Bellander of C Worldwide Asset Management and Harbor’s own Don Allen discussing the focused portfolio that lies behind the firm’s OSEA ETF.

This is also the week that saw the US ETF industry launch Ethereum ETFs. Read our US launches column, brought to you in partnership with STOXX, for all the details.

Matteo Greco of Fineqia noted that in the week that ETH spot ETFs launched in the US, BTC Spot ETFs enjoyed robust inflows. Greco writes: "Overall, market participants expect strong interest in ETH Spot ETFs and significant inflows in the first three to six months post-launch, Greco says. "It will be crucial to compare net inflows to those of BTC, considering the different market capitalisations, to gauge the appetite of traditional finance investors for digital assets beyond bitcoin."

Having been so very active, ETF Express is going to down tools and have two weeks off from newsletters over the first two weeks of August. The 2nd and the 9th of August will see no newsletters from us, but we will return with a bumper harvest on the 16th. Meanwhile, the site will be kept updated with news and features over the two weeks.

To everyone who is taking some time off over this summer, we wish you happy holidays.
