| ETF assets back to over USD6 trillion
This week brought all the reports on ETF activity over May, most of which reported ETF inflows bouncing back to pre-crisis levels. The news was sealed with latest figures from ETFGI which revealed that assets invested in the global ETFs/ETPs industry had increased by 4.7 per cent, from USD5.84 trillion at the end of April 2020, to back over that USD6 trillion benchmark at the end of May, with assets of USD6.10 trillion.
This week’s newsletter brings you a range of stories on assets and launches in our sector, starting with Bloomberg’s range of US multi-asset indices, which includes a risk parity index offering, designed with the aim of providing equal risk exposure to the two underlying indices. The risk measure used is one year daily exponentially weighted volatility. Bloomberg’s Global Head of Equity and Strategy Indices, Dave Gedeon, comments: “The Risk Parity methodology can create a smoother return path as evidenced by recent times.”
ESG continues to feature heavily in demands from investors, with Lyxor revealing ESG ETF assets in Europe are at a record level and Beyond Investing’s Claire Smith reporting outperformance of the S&P 500 for her two year old VEGAN ETF.
