Singapore investors take to ETFs

etf express beverly chandler captioned.jpgRegulatory change, love of fintech and a desire for ESG investments have caused the Singapore Exchange to enjoy a huge year, with a 60 per cent growth in ETF assets over the year, to SGD8.6 billion, and a 2.5 increase in trading turnover. Read our interview with Keri Neo, Head of Securitised Products.

ESG continues to dominate the ETF story this week, with our interviews with MJ Lytle at Tabula, detailing its launch of the first Paris-aligned fixed income ESG ETF and the team behind ECOZ, Purview’s Linda Zhang and TrueShares’ Mike Loukas. The pair are celebrating the first birthday of the ECOZ ETF, which has enjoyed first year returns of 48.6 per cent, 13.9 per cent ahead of the S&P500 index.

News from ETFGI tells us that global ETF assets have sailed through USD8 trillion and BlackRock’s January figures show equity ETFs dominated over the month with sectors such as energy, technology and financials coming out ahead.

Finally, we have a right place, right time story with Franklin Templeton’s Matt Moberg talking us through the disruptive commerce ETF, BUYZ which has achieved performance of over 106 per cent over the year.

Hopefully there is an investor out there who has recouped all their internet spending during lockdown through investment returns.
