| Happy holidays
This week brings us news of the first ETF offering a pure play exposure to India’s Nifty 50 index. INDF, the Nifty India Financials ETF, is based on the Nifty Financial Services 25/50 Index, which reflects the performance of Indian banks, financial institutions, housing finance companies, insurance companies and other financial services companies. These are the companies most likely to grow, says Amit Anand, co-founder at NextFins, who comments that in his former career as a hedge fund manager, he was frustrated by wanting to invest in India but he struggled with the lack of corporate governance in the traditional indices. The financial services stocks to which his ETF offers investors access are the crown jewels, he says, in a country that is forecast to have the third largest economy in the world by 2030. We have another hedge fund team coming to ETFs this week, with Changebridge’s launch of The Changebridge Capital Long/Short Equity ETF. Ross Klein, Chief Investment Officer and Vincent Lorusso, Portfolio Manager at the firm, bring what they call a ‘quantamental’ approach to ETF investment, with their technical data-driven approach to stock selection, combined with fundamental analysis. We also have an interview with Frank Spiteri and Townsend Lansing, ETF veterans both, who are now at cryptocurrency ETN business CoinShares. The corporate world is becoming more interested in cryptos, the pair says, particularly with Bitcoin pushing through new record levels over the last few weeks. And the holidays are approaching in what has been an (brace yourself for most overused word of the year) unprecedented year. Holidays this year of all years are going to be even more important and for many the holidays mean shopping and these days that means increased dependency on ecommerce. Sean O'Hara, President of Pacer ETF Distributors reminds us that the world’s increasing reliance upon online shopping means potential growth for his industrial real estate ETF, INDS. This ETF is designed to offer exposure to the industrial real estate that makes holiday shopping possible, such as warehouses and other core components of the supply chain, like last-mile delivery.
