Everything happening in Toronto real estate this week
Dear reader, I grew up near Kipling station, and I always remember it as something of a Soviet outpost—grey, damp and plunked down in the middle of nowhere. Today, I don’t even recognize the place: a new entrance and a revitalized GO station next door; parks, bike lanes and condo towers all around; plus a reconfigured Six Points intersection that no longer resembles a pretzel. It’s almost as if Etobicoke now has its own functioning downtown. Naturally, the surrounding post-war housing stock has glammed up too. Curb Appeal’s top post this week is a $3.2-million oddity built last year with a chapel-like silhouette and a basement fit for a wellness cult. It’s within walking distance of the train station—though, with a home like this, I suspect the future owners will never want to leave. Also in today’s newsletter: a Craigleith cottage that comes with a $50,000 credit to a ski club. And a peek inside one of Markham’s most charming farmhouses. A new four-bedroom, five-bathroom residence in Etobicoke close to Bloor. It comes with limestone accents, oversized windows, engineered hardwood floors, a sunken living room and a basement spa complete with a six-person sauna. It’s within walking distance of Kipling station, Islington Golf Club, and the many shops and restaurants along Dundas. And motorists are a short drive from both the 427 and the Gardiner. |

| Here’s a three-plus-two-bedroom, three-bathroom getaway within sniffing distance of the Blue Mountains. It comes with two guest rooms, two kitchens, a vintage pool table, six parking spots and a playground in a secret garden. |

| What farmhouse on a cul-de-sac would be complete without a Himalayan pink-salt therapy cave in the basement, a turtle-shell sink, a coach house loft, gingerbread trim, an outdoor fireplace and lounge, a fridge hiding inside an amp, and a nice clock? |
