There was no let off for the pound in July, with the euro fending off any major gains and surging to some impressive highs.

This was partially thanks to the European Central Bank (ECB), setting off multiple rallies against major currencies due to its latest interest rate decision. It was also down to a wobbly pound, off the back of initial Brexit negotiations, and an unconvinced market following the June Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting.
