NATIONAL: End-to-end enterprise community event engine Bevy has announced its acquisition of Eventtus, an event management software company based in Cairo, Egypt. The partnership adds more than 20 engineers to the team including Eventtus founders Mai Medhat and Nihal Fares. Bevy's event technology will be extended through a new mobile in-person conference app, as well as several engagement tools for in-person attendees. EDMONTON: The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival will take place at Edmonton Exhibition Lands Racetrack Infield on Aug. 13 and Aug. 15. The festival is part of Trixstar’s Together Again Concert Series and it was created to help revive entertainment in Edmonton. Performers for the comedy shows include David Spade, Nikki Glaser and Chelsea Handler. Tickets go on sale July 16, and tables can be reserved for up to six people. TORONTO: The Canada Ireland Foundation (CIF), in partnership with The City of Toronto, will host a virtual opening and dedication of Grasett Park on July 16. The new park, located at 303 Adelaide Street West, will honor doctors, nurses and other caregivers who provided care to the Irish immigrants that arrived in 1847. VANCOUVER: The Vancouver Queer Film Festival, now in its 33rd year, will take place Aug. 12-22. The festival will be held primarily digitally with a video-on-demand format where audiences can watch films, Q&As, workshops and panels. CBC Vancouver will serve as the event’s exclusive media sponsor. Cineplex's Rec Room at Burnaby's Amazing Brentwood is now open. The new entertainment complex is 43,000 square feet and has over 90 games, 16 different brews and an array of Canadian cuisine. The Rec Room is located directly below the new Cineplex VIP Cinemas.
