From the time I started to study native plants during my landscape architecture course, it dawned on me fairly early just how much more I had to learn. No one understands our native plants and their interconnected systems for survival better than our Indigenous elders.Generations of observation and understanding, reflect the true definition of connection to country that underpins the deep integration of culture to the seasonal showcase that is our horticultural heritage. The flowering of one species in the north is a signal that the dugong are mating, or the whales are coming, or the insects are busy and the bush honey will be flowing.
