Editor's Notes

Close to five years ago, Hungry Harvest made a deal on Shark Tank. Tonight, CEO Evan Lutz is returning to ABC's entrepreneurship series for an update on the Port Covington-based ugly produce delivery service.

In an interview this week, Lutz reviewed a few metrics that the initial 2016 appearance helped to kickstart: A few hundred customers became a few thousand in the initial weeks. The company had seven employees then, and now it has 80 following a year that saw a surge in demand that came alongside the pandemic.

"I think we would still be a solidly growing company today without it, but it helped to give us that extra push that we're incredibly grateful for," Lutz said.

As for Robert Herjavec, the shark who invested $100K, Lutz said he's still actively involved in the company.

Tonight, Shark Tank will focus in on the hunger-fighting company's COVID-19 response, including an emergency food box program it started in partnership with local healthcare institutions
