Good morning Voornaam

The sun is doing it's best to shine, Monday is behind us and we're steadily making our way through the week. Get a coffee on the go, and a ridiculously lavish breakfast, and let us talk you through the biggest and best stories of the day.

First up, topping the site is an exclusive from our Arts and Culture Correspondent Brian Ferguson.

The biggest venues in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe are joining forces to launch a subscriber scheme to raise funding.

Brian explained: "Assembly, Underbelly, Pleasance and Gilded Balloon are among the key players in the "Love the Fringe” initiative, which has been unveiled ahead of the festival's programme launch this week.

"The new venture is aiming to attract more than 18,000 members and generate more than half a million pounds in its first year."

Next up, we have some analysis from our Political Editor Alistair Grant, who is continuing to take a look at one of the biggest stories from yesterday, and probably from the whole week - why Douglas Ross decided he would stand down as Scottish Tory leader.

Alistair writes:

"On Thursday, the Scottish Conservative leader announced he would stand in the Aberdeenshire North and Moray East seat at the general election. "I have decided I need to lead from the front,” he told a hastily arranged press conference.

"At an internal meeting that morning, several MSPs made their unhappiness known. "It was not like they all did it behind closed doors,” a source said. “It was done to his face immediately."

Lastly, something a little lighter. Our Heritage Correspondent Alison Campsie has taken a look at a rare treasure trove of memorabilia with Harry Potter and James Bond link for sale.

Alison explains: "Rare first editions of JK Rowling’s first three Harry Potter books, a signed first edition of Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale and a complete set of signed A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the Pooh books are set to fetch tens of thousands of pounds at auction in Edinburgh."
